CHIHUAHUA – The value of construction production in Chihuahua decreased 0.5% during August 2019, thus linking its third consecutive month downwards, according to the indicators of construction companies presented by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
During the eighth month of the year, the state of Chihuahua registered 4.8% in production value in terms of construction, with the electricity and telecommunications sector being the highest score with 12.3%.
The building in Chihuahua that includes housing, industrial, commercial buildings, services, schools, hospitals, clinics, among others, recorded a percentage of 5.6%, a decrease of 0.5% in the last three months.
Water, irrigation, and sanitation stood at 6.8%; transportation and urbanization at 1.4%; oil and petrochemical at 0.8%; while other construction types were at 3.8% during August.
Luis Mario Baeza, president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), in Ciudad Juárez, explained that in the specific case of this border, these indicators have not seriously affected, because the industry has been busy for both public and private works.
