Lucid Motors is ready to start the production of its electric vehicle “Lucid Air” in Casa Grande, Arizona. The 730,000 SF manufacturing site is getting ready to get the Lucid Air out on the road by early 2021.
“We already have the first robots coming to life. We are already moving the first equipment and dialing that in,” said Peter Hochholdinger, Lucid Motors vice president of Manufacturing. “I think it’s going to be a game changer for electrical vehicles.”
Hochholdinger explained his electric vehicle has the longest range available on the market, with 517 miles.
“It is the first vehicle with bidirectional charging, so it can also provide energy to your house,” he added.
As demand for the Lucid vehicles grows, so does the factory in Casa Grande. The company already has plans to triple in size over the next decade, to include the possibility of producing different models in the future.
Back in 2016, when Lucid announced its plans in Arizona, the state government said the company planned to create 4,000 jobs and to have a US$700 million impact in a decade.
Following several delays and an influx of cash from Saudi Arabia, Lucid is now back on track with production, and it has already started hiring and training employees.
