SALTILLO – With an investment of US$50 million, the Chinese company BTL announced the start of its operations in Derramadero, Saltillo. Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís, governor of Coahuila, said that the entity is 8,000 jobs away from recovering those lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The manufacturing company specialized in automotive security systems will generate around 550 jobs for Saltillo.
Riquelme indicated that in times of a pandemic his government has tried to continue reactivating the economy, and to continue generating the components that the entity has to prevent companies from closing their doors.
In this sense, he said that this has been achieved not only in that there have been no closures but that they have also kept on generating these components despite the pandemic.
In its phase 1, BTL will manufacture aluminum castings for braking and suspension safety systems, and in phase 2, it will be dedicated to automotive electrical parts. The governor also announced that from the Derramadero Valley plant will supply their customers in Mexico, the United States and Canada.
BTL’s advisor, Lalit Verma, reported that the company has a capital in the Chinese Market Exchange of US$2.5 billion, and its customer base is with all the automotive assemblers in more than 70 countries, which supply from its plant in China.
Riquelme Solís said that Coahuila continues to generate a workforce valued by companies and announced that after the pandemic, another visit to China will be possible to promote new investments for the entity.
He considered that choosing the Southeast Region will open multiple opportunities and generate sources of employment, but also speaks of the confidence gained by the security and qualified workforce that the state has.
