Nuevo Leon ranked first in new housing sales

MONTERREY – In January 2021, Nuevo Leon ranked first in the new housing segment with 2,515 units, 10% less than in the same month of the previous year.

According to figures from the National Housing Commission (Conavi), new home sales in the country stood at 18,695 units in the first month of 2021, 10.1% less than in January 2020.

Jorge Paredes Guerra, president of Realty World Mexico, commented that in Nuevo Leon and other states, the volume of new housing placements decreased, especially in the affordable and popular housing segments, due to the pandemic.

“As employment recovers, the placement of popular housing, as well as traditional housing, will increase,” Paredes Guerra said.

On the other hand, in the residential and residential plus segment, housing marketing indicators in January 2021, were favorable in most states, despite the economic slowdown caused by the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the residential segment, Nuevo León ranked first in housing placements, with 427 residential homes, representing an increase of 30.2% compared to the first month of 2020.

In residential plus housing, the leader was Mexico City with 371 homes, an increase of 24.9% compared to the same month last year, followed by Nuevo Leon with 197 homes with an increase of 18% and Jalisco with 196 homes with an increase of 28.1%.
