CHIHUAHUA – In March 2021, a total of 481,786 insured workers were registered in Ciudad Juarez; while in February of this year there were 479,138, which means that there were 2,648 more workers in the first quarter (1Q) of the year.
According to data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the number of insured workers in Chihuahua City increased from 273,071 in February 2021 to 275,157 in March of this year.
Regarding insured workers by economic activity, the one with the highest numbers for the first quarter of the year was the transformation industry with 486,057 insured workers, compared to the 484,809 registered in February.
The other sectors were commerce with 134,054 workers in March, compared to 133,505 in February, and in third place services for businesses, individuals and households with 112,636 workers in March, compared to 111,135 in February.
Other sectors that stand out are social and communal services with 58,816 workers in March, while in February there were 58,358; the transportation and communications sector with 54,117 in March, and 53,712 in February; then the construction industry with 41,501 workers in March and 40,750 in February.
Likewise, agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and hunting registered 17,486 in the first quarter, compared to the 17,561 registered in February; it is worth mentioning that this is the only sector that decreased during said period.
