TEXAS – Airbus Helicopters and Helisim began the construction of a new training center for helicopter pilots and maintenance personnel in Grand Prairie, Texas, which will include a new full flight simulator for the next generation H 145, H 175 and H 160.
With an initial investment of US$40 million, Helisim Simulation Center will provide introductory and recurrent training to thousands of pilots each year. The first phase of the new facility is scheduled to be completed later this year, when the first full motion Thales Reality H Level D flight simulator is delivered.
Helisim, a joint venture of Thales and Airbus Helicopters and a world leader in helicopter training, will develop and operate the simulation center, which will house the first Level D flight simulators in North America for the Airbus H145 and H175 helicopters, two high-tech civil helicopters, which are now in use in America.
The new center represents a major international expansion of Helisim, headquartered in France, which has 18 years of experience in simulation training for Airbus Helicopters aircraft.
