A new direct air route between Los Angeles and Monterrey, operated by Alaska Airlines, was officially presented to representatives of the tourism sector and the media.
The flight, which has been operating Monday through Friday since February, seeks to strengthen connectivity between the two cities in a context of growing tourism and commercial exchange, in addition to responding to the presence of Mexican communities in California.
The presentation took place at the Hilton Monterrey Valle Hotel with the participation of state authorities, airline executives and representatives of the Monterrey Airport and the Los Angeles tourism board.
Nuevo Leon’s Secretary of Tourism, Maricarmen Martinez Villarreal, pointed out that this new connection is part of a long-term strategy in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Currently, Monterrey International Airport has 59 active routes, of which 15 are international. The official emphasized that the incorporation of this flight contributes to expanding the city’s global projection.
On behalf of Alaska Airlines, Ismael Barba, sales manager, and Kristal Crespo, director of operations, participated in the event, which was also attended by representatives of Grupo Aeroportuario OMA and the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board.
Alaska Airlines is considered the fifteenth largest airline in the world, with a network of more than 400 destinations and a fleet of more than 400 aircraft. The company seeks to strengthen its presence in Mexico through key routes such as this one.
The flight connects Monterrey with Los Angeles International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, considered a strategic hub for tourism and investment. The new route is part of the company’s efforts to consolidate Monterrey as an international gateway for global events.
