ALBUQUERQUE – Facing a week with several deaths in violent events, the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is asking the community for help to find those responsible for two tragic events.
The Albuquerque Police Department reported that it launched two digital portals for people who have photographic or video evidence of the shootings to share them to have more elements in their investigations.
By entering https://www.cabq.gov/police/news/apd-launches-portals-for-photo-and-video-evidence-in-investigations-1 information can be sent anonymously and from any electronic device.
The goal is for the evidence to help solve the crimes committed at the Ojos Locos bar and at Washington Middle School.
On august 12, there was a fatal shooting at the Ojos Locos sports bar, where according to the investigations, unknown individuals fired at the doors of the place, after a fight outside and killed a man, and three people were also injured.
It was revealed that a man identified as Laurence Anzures, 30, was killed despite witnesses saying he was not related to the fight.
The other violent incident occurred on august 13 at Washington Middle School, where a student was shot and killed by another at lunchtime. Apparently the victim was trying to get two others to smooth out rough edges when the detonations were heard.
The Police Department reported that one of the students brought a gun from his home to school and in the middle of the discussion the gun was fired.
Another crime was committed at a gas station, when two men argued and one shot the other, wounding him to death, but thanks to surveillance videos, the alleged culprit was identified and arrested.
In another incident also in Albuquerque, a man died after others chased him and finally stabbed him in an alley southwest of the city.
To this must be added a robbery committed in a local store where police officers answered the emergency call and upon arrival were shot by a man who was later identified as James Ramirez.
Four elements were hit by the bullets, while others repelled the attack and managed to hit him on several occasions, so he is in a hospital, and his companion is detained.
The alleged culprit is charged with armed robbery and will be charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, assault with intent to commit a violent felony, possession of a firearm, and resisting a police officer.
For Cristina Martinez, a resident of the place, these events are worrying, because she does not remember that so many crimes have been committed in such a short time.
She said that she has lived in Las Cruces and a brief period in Alamogordo and, for more than 10 years in Albuquerque, where life is peaceful and it is not common to hear serious crimes or murders, much less all occur in a week.
What is worrying, he mentioned, is that now there are also violent acts in schools, because he has always seen these places as safe places and now he will not be calm when his grandchildren go to the classrooms.
