UNITED STATES – The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations will temporarily suspend operations at the Amistad Dam international crossing, to facilitate dam maintenance being performed by the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC).
The temporary closure will last until IBWC’s work is completed, which is estimated to take approximately one month.
Travelers who normally use the Amistad Dam crossing will be diverted to the nearby Del Rio port of entry, which is not affected by the IBWC work.
For additional information on the scope and duration of the project, contact the IBWC at (915) 772-3600.
CBP would like to remind the traveling public of the importance of obtaining and using their radio frequency identification (RFID) documents, such as U.S. passport cards and newer (i.e., since 2011) versions of the border crossing card and resident alien card.
