TEXAS – A total of US$15 million has been awarded in the state of Texas to boost student training programs.
Governor Greg Abbott announced that 60 vocational training grants have been approved to train students for high-paying, high-demand jobs after graduation.
These Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants awarded by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) will help public junior, state and technical colleges; school districts; and open-enrollment charter schools purchase equipment for career and technical education (CTE) programs that will help students enter high-demand industries.
“As the Texas economy continues to grow, it is critical that we invest in our workforce. This US$15 million in vocational training grants will support career and technical training programs for thousands of Texas students across our great state,” said Governor Abbott.
The vocational training grants will give Texas students the opportunity to earn licenses, certificates or college degrees that lead to high-paying jobs. In the first year alone, the new equipment will help train more than 6,900 students.
TWC is accepting applications for the JET 2025 grant program. Texas public junior, state and technical colleges, school districts and open-enrollment charter schools are eligible to apply.
