Baja California closes 2024 in the top three of highest FDI in Mexico

BAJA CALIFORNIA – With an amount of US$1.9 billion, Baja California positioned itself as the third state in the country that attracted the most Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) this year 2024, according to data provided by the Ministry of Economy of the Federal Government.

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila, highlighted that between January and September 2024, said state contributed 5.6 percent of the total foreign direct investment in Mexico, placing it in the top three nationally.

In addition, the governor pointed out that, compared to 2023, Baja California registered a 68 percent growth in foreign direct investment, reaffirming its place as the northern border state with the best performance.

Foreign investment generates more formal jobs, with good salaries, which means a better quality of life for families.

The public policies promoted in Baja California are aligned with the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum, with the clear purpose of ensuring sustainable economic growth for the benefit of all.

Avila Olmeda revealed that, according to Baja California’s Ministry of Economy and Innovation, of the total FDI in 2024, the United States contributed 56.9 percent of the resources captured, Japan ranked second with 29.6 percent, and Spain, with 7.5 percent, reached third place.

Most of the FDI captured this year in Baja California went to transportation manufacturing projects, which represented 59.6 percent of the total accumulated between January and September, with companies such as Toyota and Kenworth standing out.
