BAJA CALIFORNIA – The state of Baja California was not among the five most attractive entities in the country to invest despite having a large number of maquiladora industries, according to the national survey Perspectivas de la Alta Dirección en México 2019 by the consulting firm KPMG.

The president of Consejo Nacional de la Industria Maquiladora y Manufacturera de Exportación (Index) coastal area, Luis Hernandez Gonzalez, emphasized that this has happened because large companies are already established in Baja California, also mostly expand within the state.

“There are many countries that have invested in Baja California, in the last three years there have been more companies that have expanded than those that have arrived. It is the state that has more foreign investment,” said Hernandez Gonzalez.

The president of Index said that Baja California needs more space for investment, also made it clear that rail transportation that is given in part of southern Mexico is a point in favor of the states that are there.

“We don’t have an automotive vocation, we have an aerospace, medical, electronic or mechanical vocation and the best companies in that branch are in Baja California,” he concluded.
