Baja California is promoted as a foreign investment destination

BAJA CALIFORNI – In order to promote Baja California as a destination for foreign investment, and identify growth plans in strategic sectors and opportunities in talent and technology development, the State Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI) and the entity’s economic promotion agencies (ProBaja Trade & Investment alliance), carried out the “Road Show CDMX 2024”, with embassies and commercial representation offices from several countries, informed the Undersecretary of Investment Management, Rodolfo Andrade Pelayo.

 “Once again we made an agenda in CDMX where the corporate offices of companies with operations in the state are located, of prospects of strategic industries and important allies such as economic areas in Embassies and Consulates, accompanied by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce we expose the importance of the Cali Baja region,” Andrade commented.

The tour began on October 21st and will culminate next Friday, October 25th and on the first day of activities a courtesy visit was made to the Canadian Embassy with the Commercial Delegate for Infrastructure and Energy to convene Canadian companies to Baja California, in addition to participating in a meeting with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, visiting the Business France organization for the promotion of the life sciences industry and a future trade mission and “Advantage Austria” which promotes Austrian investment and trade exchange.

Likewise, visits were made to companies with operations in the state, such as Bimbo, to learn about new opportunities in the areas of innovation centers, plant growth and electromobility.

In a meeting with DHL representatives, new projects and specialized services for the aerospace, medical and electronics industries were reviewed; while with Dassault Systems, the roadmap for establishing multisectorial design and innovation centers in Baja California in the areas of aerospace, life sciences and smartcities was reviewed.

During the second day of work, the delegation met with the embassies of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands where the main topics were the life sciences ecosystems in Baja California and England, talent development initiatives, investment projects and energy outlook in the region.

We also participated in the reception with the U.S. Embassy in Mexico; Jetro (Japan’s autonomous governmental organization founded in 1958 whose objective is to fully and effectively carry out activities related to the promotion of Japan’s international trade).

In addition, there were meetings with Sempra Energy on the energy outlook, with Bosch, Paccar, IBM and Becton Dickinson to detect growth opportunities.

The ProBajaTrade & Investment delegation is made up of presidents and representatives of the investment promotion agencies of Ensenada, Mexicali, Tijuana and Tecate and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, including Pablo Charvel, Mario Peregrina, David Moreno, Kenia Zamarripa and Javier Gómez.
