The Ministry of Economy and Innovation (SEI) participated in the third edition of the “Growth Summit Mexico 2025”, an event organized by Walmart Mexico with the objective of linking micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) with the company’s supplier network.
Michelle Guerrero Jaimes, Undersecretary for Economic Development of the SEI, explained that the meeting seeks to promote alliances between MSMEs and suppliers in the manufacturing and services sector, with a view to reducing imports and strengthening the participation of national products in large distribution chains, both physical and online.
According to the official, the event also promotes the integration of new companies to Walmart’s so-called “ominicanal network”, which could expand its reach in different business units of the company.
Javier Treviño, senior vice-president of Corporate Affairs of Walmart Mexico, pointed out that 83% of the products marketed by the company are manufactured, grown or assembled in the country. He added that the Growth Summit seeks to strengthen the link with national suppliers and increase the consumption of locally produced goods.
The 32 members of the Mexican Association of Secretaries of Economic Development (AMSDE) also participated in the event, as part of the promotion of collaboration between state governments and the private sector.
