BAJA CALIFORNIA – As part of the ProBaja economic promotion alliance, the Government of the State of Baja California met with more than 20 companies as well as chambers of commerce and officials within the framework of SEMICON West 2024, a specialized event for the semiconductor industry.
The Undersecretary of Investment Management of the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation of Baja California (SEI), Rodolfo Andrade Pelayo highlighted that by being part of the delegation organized by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, the intention is to generate investment opportunities in the state.
The event was held July 9-11 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, and brought together participants from the global electronics supply chain of the semiconductor ecosystem to address opportunities and challenges on topics such as market intelligence, standards, sustainability and workforce among others.
Promoting the state as an important player for the industry and an active part of the U.S.-Mexico alliance, the competitive advantages, infrastructure, talent development strategy and the base of advanced electronics companies that add to the regional supply chain were unveiled.
“By participating in key events, the megaregion that includes Baja California, California and Arizona is strengthened as a strategic hub in the semiconductor industry, promoting cross-border collaboration and the integration of supply chains between these regions,” said Andrade.
In addition to the attention of companies at the event, events and meetings were attended with the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (AMCHAM), those convened by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, including those with the Arizona Commerce Authority and others that were organized by the Consul General of Mexico in San Francisco, Vicente Margarito Sanchez Ventura and the Consul for Economic Affairs, Ursula Amanda Rojas Weiser.
Participation in SEMICON West 2024 was focused on strengthening and integrating new allies abroad. The Government of Baja California emphasized that it will continue to promote investment and economic development in the state, taking advantage of its competitive advantages and creating a favorable environment for the semiconductor industry.
