Investments of US$248 million have been announced for the State of Baja California, which will contribute to the growth of various companies in the State: the construction of a power plant at Tecate
, the expansion of an automotive company and the growth of factories from the medical industry were confirmed during the work tour of the Ministry of Economic Development´s officials. The company Motorcar Parts of America (MPA) announced a US$25 million investment to expand its capacity and consolidate its manufacturing operations of automotive alternators and generators in Tijuana, creating 500 new jobs. Medical products companies, Össur, Breg and Scantiebodies announced their plans for growth and future investments in their Baja California operations. Össur, a developer, manufacturer and retailer of non-invasive orthopedics, will generate 300 jobs at its plant, as it expects to double its capacity within the next two years with a US$7.5 million investment. Meanwhile, the Breg Company, another medical supplier, recently acquired an additional area for expansion, with a US$2 million investment to create 100 new jobs, seeking to amount 400 employees by the end of 2015. In the case of Scantiebodies, which performs laboratory tests, an investment for US$7 million was reiterated for this year to equip its Imagenology and Therapy Center.
