Baja California registered an 89.8% increase in manufacturing production between January 2024 and January 2025, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). According to the Monthly Manufacturing Industry Survey (EMIM), the entity reached a production value of 24 thousand 238 million pesos (MDP) in the first month of the year.
Manufacturing represents 36.1% of the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and strategies have been implemented to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness through investments in infrastructure, supplier development and talent training, said Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda.
The Secretary of Economy and Innovation, Kurt Honold Morales, pointed out that Baja California maintains an outstanding position in the sector, with manufacturing contributing 42.8% of the jobs registered in the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) until January 2025.
Among the productive activities with the highest participation in the state’s industry, the manufacturing of transportation equipment represented 62% of the total value of production, followed by the food industry with 9.6%.
