As part of an international tour of Europe, representatives of the Government of Baja California and economic promotion agencies visited Switzerland, where they held meetings with actors from the business, academic, and technological sectors. The activities are part of the ProBaja international mission, which seeks to attract investment, strengthen the innovation ecosystem, and establish new strategic partnerships.
The visit to Switzerland was accompanied by Switzerland Global Enterprise, an entity that facilitated an agenda focused on public-private partnership models and industrial development.
One of the main meetings was with executives from Laubscher Präzision AG, a Swiss company with more than 180 years in the precision manufacturing industry. The delegation learned about the company’s operational practices and its experience in innovation from a family business structure. A meeting was also held with Bahaa Roustom, vice president of the CSEM applied research center, to discuss possible collaborations in technology transfer and support for entrepreneurial projects.
During a networking session at Technopark Zurich, representatives from Baja California spoke with Swiss startups and innovators interested in exploring opportunities in the Mexican market. Among the participants were entrepreneurs Simone Bottan and Manuel Buri.
Rodolfo Andrade Pelayo, Undersecretary of Investment Management at the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI), noted that the experience in Switzerland allowed them to learn about international approaches to innovation and explore synergies with actors in Baja California.
The delegation also included Dulce Rodríguez López, Director of Technology and Innovation; Hortencia Medellín, Director of Promotion; and Mario Peregrina, President of the Ensenada Economic Promotion Commission. The tour will continue in Germany.
