Baja California seeks to strengthen women’s participation in the manufacturing industry

The Secretariat of Economy and Innovation of Baja California (SEI), in collaboration with the Women in Industry Commission of the National Chamber of the Manufacturing Industry (Canacintra), hosted the “Proveeduría Morada” Networking workshop. The event was designed for businesswomen, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders.

The primary objective was to establish a networking space to facilitate women’s participation in the region’s economic ecosystem. The workshop focused on generating strategic contacts and providing access to value chains and new business opportunities.

During the event, Undersecretary of Economic Development Michelle Guerrero Jaimes stated that the initiative aimed to promote strategic alliances and expand professional networks to identify concrete alternatives for business growth.

Alejandro Jaramillo, president of Canacintra Tijuana, emphasized the importance of such activities. “These events are crucial for integrating more women into the regional business dynamic and opening opportunities in sectors where their participation has historically been limited,” Jaramillo noted.

Lucía Castro Herrera, vice president of the Women in Industry Commission, provided details on the program’s scope. She explained that the “Proveeduría Morada” program encompasses multiple stages, which include business linkage, training for certifications, and support for securing financing.

According to Castro Herrera, the initiative seeks not only to foster interaction among women entrepreneurs but also to ensure their full integration into the broader productive sector, enabling more active roles in decision-making processes.
