Baja California Sur registered a loss of pace of its economic expansion, however, it continues to be the entity with the highest annual economic growth in the country and the best performance so far in 2018. On average its level of economic activity has grown 16.1%.
During the third quarter of 2018 there was a significant slowdown in the expansion of economic activity in Baja California Sur. In previous periods had recorded double-digit growth.
In the period July-September, Indicador Trimestral de Actividad Económica Estatal (ITAEE) or Baja California Sur reached only a growth of 5.4% in annual comparison, the most modest growth since the first quarter of 2017, according to numbers from Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi).
Growth during the period July-September 2017 , was 16.6%, for the following quarter increased 16.3%, and in the two subsequent quarters managed to increase its level of economic activity 22.0% and 20.8% respectively.
Despite the slowdown experienced, Baja California Sur continues to be the entity with the highest annual economic growth in Mexico. In addition, it presents the best performance so far in 2018: on average the level of economic activity has grown 16.1%.
