BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR – “Baja California Sur presents a solid and sustained economic dynamism, which has influenced the strengthening of the tourism industry, which is why more international companies and consortiums want to invest in our state,” said the minister of Turismo, Economía y Sustentabilidad (SETUES), Luis Humberto Araiza Lopez.

Araiza Lopez added that proof of this are the US$320 million that the entity received as FDI, only in the period from January to September 2018, from which US$298 million correspond to new investments. He mentioned that 94.8% of FDI belong to the tourism sector, according to data from the Secretaría de Economía.

This has been reflected in the boost of tourist infrastructure and higher air connectivity, noting that currently there are about 5000 new hotel rooms, in addition to mentioning the direct flight that will connect Los Cabos with the European market.

These investments, he stressed, have resulted in multiple benefits for the population by generating more jobs and better wages, in addition to contributing to position Baja California Sur as a leader in the country in terms of economic growth and as a national face to register lower working poverty.
