JUAREZ, CHIH – Becton Dickinson celebrated the laying of the first stone of its new sterilization plant in Ciudad Juarez, with an investment of US$80 million.
Becton Dickinson already has two plants in the state and with the new construction, reaffirms its confidence in Chihuahua as an investment destination, in addition to increasing its Chihuahua workforce.
In her message, the governor of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos Galván, said that the high-value jobs that will be generated with this new construction will be added to the more than 1,300 workers that are already part of its workforce in the state.
“Today Juarez is key to the economic consolidation of the country,” said the Governor, noting that so far in the state administration, the border city has attracted 3 billion dollars in investments.
Julio Duclos, CEO of Becton Dickinson Mexico and Central America, commented that this project marks a milestone in the company’s history, as it represents a renewed commitment to job creation and the development of Chihuahua.
The construction of the third plant marks a decisive moment for the city, since this important investment represents the expansion of a world leader company within the community, it also means the creation of new economic growth opportunities for the people of Juarez,” said the Mayor of Juarez, Cruz Perez Cuellar.
The mayor said that this is the first high-tech plant that will generate 50 jobs and will continue working to generate more investment for Ciudad Juarez. He said that this project occupies an important place in the development and thanked the company for its great decision to invest in the city, as this shows confidence and the capacity of the workforce.
Also present at the event were Ulises Fernández Gamboa, Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development; José Luis Salinas, Director of Becton Dickinson’s plants in Ciudad Juárez; Travis Anderton, Global Vice President of Sterilization Supply Chain Management; as well as the Director of Index in Juárez, Martín Flores.
