TAMAULIPAS – Roberto Salinas Ferrer, state president of “constructores formales” announced that Cámara Mexicana de la Industria de la Construcción (CMIC) of Tamaulipas asked the federal government to recognize border municipalities, from Nuevo Laredo to Matamoros, as an international urban zone which should receive not only better fiscal treatment, but also more infrastructure resources.  He stated as well that the same is intended for coastal communities, because of their industrial and tourist potential.

“Tamaulipas has an unbeatable geographical situation, since its customs and ports contribute to the Federation to a much greater extent than what returns on infrastructure investment,” said the representative.

Salinas Ferrer added that for this reason he’s requesting the federal authorities to take into account what the Tamaulipas border represents in terms of federal income.
