Brownsville Strengthens Its Partnership with Nuevo León
The city of Brownsville, Texas is seeking to strengthen its trade ties with Nuevo León through an investment attraction strategy that combines incentives for large companies to set up operations with support programs focused on the well-being of workers and their families.
During the UANL Coffee with Texas event, representatives from the Greater Brownsville Economic Development Corporation—which focuses on attracting manufacturing and heavy industry—and the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) appeared together to promote the border city’s overall offerings to the business community of Nuevo León.
Astrid Rosales, head of entrepreneurship programs at the BCIC, emphasized that Brownsville’s strength stems from efforts on two fronts: the Greater Brownsville EDC, which attracts large-scale investment, while the BCIC allocates resources to urban grants, recreational spaces, and business acceleration programs to ensure that the transition for employees and their families is sustainable in the long term.
Speaking of entrepreneurship, Brownsville explained that the BCIC offers guidance and financing to take projects under development to the international level, taking advantage of its proximity to the Monterrey metropolitan area to create business synergies.
Through this partnership, both organizations reaffirm that Brownsville not only hopes to position itself as an industrial hub on the border, but also to become a strategic bridge that facilitates economic and community integration between Texas and Nuevo León’s productive sector.
