Canacintra Tijuana calls for prioritizing dialogue and avoiding blockades

In response to road blockades occurring in various parts of the country, the National Chamber of the Manufacturing Industry (Canacintra) in Tijuana called for dialogue and the reaching of agreements, in order to avoid disrupting the movement of goods or undermining national economic stability.

Alonso Ibarra, president of the organization, acknowledged the legitimate right to free assembly and expression of ideas; however, he emphasized that institutional dialogue must prevail as the primary means of addressing social demands without harming third parties.

“More than 56% of the nation’s cargo is transported by road, so any blockade of strategic logistics corridors has an immediate impact on the country’s industry, commerce, and economy, in addition to disrupting the flow of essential goods,” he warned.

According to industry estimates, he said, such disruptions can cause losses exceeding 750 million pesos per day, a figure that could rise to between 3 and 6 billion pesos in a week in the event of simultaneous or prolonged blockades.

He also explained that each detained transport unit can result in losses of up to 180,000 pesos per day, in addition to affecting inventories, supply contracts, exports, and the supply of essential products, with direct repercussions for companies, workers, and consumers.

“Mexico needs certainty, mobility, and collaboration to continue moving forward; therefore, we make a respectful but firm appeal to the Federal Government to keep institutional channels open and avoid measures that harm the country’s economy,” emphasized Alonso Ibarra.

Finally, the leader of Canacintra Tijuana reiterated his willingness to collaborate as a constructive partner, promoting solutions through understanding, coordination with authorities, and the strengthening of the rule of law.
