Carlo Gavazzi opens its plant in Tijuana

TIJUANA, BC – The opening of the first plant of the Italian company Carlo Gavazzi in Tijuana has marked a milestone for the semiconductor industry and technological innovation in Baja California.

With a strategic investment in the Otay area, this new facility will generate 200 direct jobs, reinforcing the economic development and positioning of the region as a key manufacturing and advanced technology center in Mexico.

During the opening ceremony, Kurt Honold Morales, Secretary of Economy and Innovation, highlighted the relevance of this foreign investment, which strengthens both local industry and opportunities for residents. Honold underscored the state government’s commitment to generate a favorable environment for companies seeking to establish and grow in the entity.

“For Baja California, and especially for our governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, it is not only important that companies arrive, but that they find the necessary conditions to stay, grow and meet their quality, production and employment goals,” said the SEI head, emphasizing the focus on sustainability and permanence of investments.

Jean-Marc Theolier, CEO of Carlo Gavazzi America, thanked the government of Baja California for the facilities granted for the construction of the plant. He emphasized that Tijuana, with its industrial dynamism, will not only be the manufacturing base for North America, but also the company’s research and development center, with the objective of designing innovative solutions for the North, Central and South American markets.

The plant, located in Ciudad Industrial Otay, covers 51,000 square feet and specializes in the manufacture of electronic equipment such as sensors, monitoring relays, electronic motor controllers and safety devices, among others. Carlo Gavazzi’s philosophy focuses on sustainability and process automation, promoting the well-being and comfort of its users.

This project reinforces Baja California’s strategy to attract investments in key sectors such as technology and innovation, consolidating the region as a benchmark in the high-tech industry. The presence of industry and government leaders during the event underscores the joint commitment to boost economic growth and employment in the region.

The opening of Carlo Gavazzi in Tijuana not only represents a new stage for the company, but also an opportunity for Baja California to continue positioning itself as a strategic destination for technological investment in the hemisphere.
