Caterpillar to expand production in Nuevo Leon

Caterpillar recently announced that part of the production of its Joliet, Illinois plant, will be moved to Mexico, causing the lay-off of 230 Illinois workers. The company, based in Peoria, Illinois, said that will move to a plant in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, two of its production lines for the manufacture of pumping equipment and valves.

The production´s relocation will begin by late 2016 and conclude by mid-2018, Caterpillar informed. The firm made clear that the manufacture of shock absorbers and hydraulic lift cylinders for trucks, components and heat treatment, will continue in the Joliet plant.
