CHIHUAHUA – Chihuahua accumulated US$1.5 billion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the third quarter of 2023, thanks to the consolidation of 35 projects that will generate more than 13,000 new jobs, informed the Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE).
The entity ranked fourth nationally in this area, concentrating 5% of the total investments that have arrived in the country so far this year, only behind Mexico City, Nuevo León and Sonora.
Manque Granados Trespalacios, head of SIDE, and the director of Promotora para el Desarrollo Económico de Chihuahua (Prodech), Alejandro Jaschack, announced that of the 35 projects mentioned, 25 are new operations and 10 are expansions, which will generate more than 13 thousand new high-value jobs over the next 5 years.
These investments were made mainly in the automotive, aerospace, electronics, metal-mechanical and medical devices sectors.
Granados Trespalacios said that, within the framework of the nearshoring phenomenon, the State Government is working to position Chihuahua as a national leader in the industry, with the objective of taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the global market and increasing competitiveness.
According to estimates of the agency, it is expected that by the end of this year another US$2 billion of investment will arrive to the state.
Among the most representative investments in 2023 are: Leoni Cable, GKN, VTC West, ZF, Beckton Dickinson, Regal Rexnord, Safran Cabins, CVG, Malteurop, BRP, BRP Planta 3.
