CHIHUAHUA – Six companies from Chihuahua participated in the sixth edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2023, in the city of Shanghai, where they closed deals with the potential to generate up to US$10 million in exports.
The participating companies were: Agropecuaria del Consuelo (AGROCOSA), from the municipality of Meoqui, which exports pecan nuts; Astorga Foods Ingredients, from Chihuahua, which exports food ingredients; GYM International, from Saucillo, which exports food supplements; Sotolera Hacienda de Ángeles (ALAQUA), from Camargo, which exports sotol; Churro Time, from Ciudad Juárez, which exports churros; Yam Yam, from the municipality of Cuauhtémoc, which exports yucca. All the companies export their products to China.
The event, which took place from November 5 to 10, provided producers with an ideal scenario for direct business opening and closing.
“The experience provided participants with knowledge about market trends and characteristics, as well as a space to present their products, enter new distribution channels and keep abreast of consumer preferences and habits,” said the Government of Chihuahua.
China is the main importer of pecan nuts worldwide, so a market study of the sector was carried out during the event to learn more about the high demand in Asian countries, distribution channels, prices, certifications and possible distributors.
State-owned companies participated in the Mexican pavilion, led and organized by the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE), with the support of the State Government and the Mexican Foreign Ministry in China.
The agenda included conferences on topics such as Business Meetings with Supermarket Companies; Retail Suppliers; Chinese Supply Cooperatives; E-Commerce Platforms and Buyers from Zhejiang Province; as well as meetings with leading companies in automated systems and renewable energy transformation.
The Chihuahua State Government highlighted that the participation of Chihuahua companies in the CIIE 2023 is an example of the government’s commitment to the economic development of the entity.
“These companies represent the most dynamic sectors of the Chihuahua economy and their participation in the CIIE is an opportunity to strengthen their presence in the international market,” said the State Government.
