Chihuahua participates in World Forum on Circular Economy

CHIHUAHUA – Representatives of the public-private initiative Chihuahua Green, in collaboration with the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development of the State Government, participate in the World Forum on Circular Economy in Brussels, Belgium.

The World Circular Economy Forum takes place from April 15 to 19 and is the main scenario where business leaders, policy makers and experts from around the world gather to explore advanced solutions in environmental care and natural resource management.

With the collaboration of the Finnish Innovation Fund SITRA, organizer of the Forum, Chihuahua Green is the only state in Mexico and Latin America to participate in this event, considered the most important global event in circular economy.

According to Chihuahua Green, this seeks to generate new opportunities for collaboration and exchange of best practices, as well as to explore options for financing projects in the Mexican state.

As part of the activities aimed at highlighting the efforts made in Chihuahua in the field of circular economy, the delegation will present the Chihuahua Green Platform. The platform facilitates the transition to circular practices for companies and intermediary organizations, as well as the “OASIS” certification for production processes, the only one of its kind in Latin America.

Finally, the progress made in the reduction of CO2 emissions at the Cuauhtémoc Industrial Complex, carbon offsetting in forestry in the northwest region, ecological blocks made from “chamota”, the recovery of end-of-life tires, the use of rice husks and projects developed within the Chihuahua Industrial Complex, such as the wastewater treatment plant, the shared energy manager and Simbiosis Scrap Store, will be presented.

In addition, the start of the mapping for industrial symbiosis projects in the municipalities of Cuauhtemoc and Ciudad Juarez will be detailed.
