CHIHUAHUA – The state of Chihuahua positioned itself as the state with the third largest increase in jobs in Mexico, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
At the close of the second quarter of 2023, the total number of paid jobs in economic activities in the country was 40.5 million, considering an increase of 2.7% in its annual comparison. In the case of Chihuahua, the increase was 5.1 percent, 2.4 percentage points above the national average.
Likewise, Chihuahua was one of the entities that contributed the most to the national variation in paid jobs, with 0.18 percentage points after Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
In the same quarter, salaried wages grew by 8.2 percent, ranking sixth in the contribution to the national annual variation, with 0.33 percentage points.
It should be noted that, as of October 2023, 30,658 new formal jobs were generated in Chihuahua, of which 9,680 correspond to the Juárez region; 14,898 to Chihuahua; 954 to Delicias; 3,894 to Cuauhtémoc; 506 to Parral and 726 to Nuevo Casas Grandes.
The productive sectors with the highest employment include the transformation industry, services and commerce, which make up 91 percent of the total number of insured workers.
Also, Chihuahua maintains its leading position with the lowest rate of employment in the informal sector, with 15.6 percent of the employed population, and is in second place with the lowest rate of labor informality in the country, with 35.1 percent.
The Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development, Manque Granados Trespalacios, highlighted the growth in the number of formal jobs in the entity, driven by foreign direct investment and the creation of new businesses.
“This growth is the result of the confidence that investors have in Chihuahua, as well as the efforts of the State Government to create a favorable environment for investment and economic development,” he said.
For his part, the president of Canacintra Chihuahua, Luis Carlos Ramírez, agreed that the growth of employment in the state is good news for the local economy.
