Chihuahua strengthens productive sector in the border area

The head of the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), Ulises Fernandez Gamboa, held meetings with business organizations of Ciudad Juarez to analyze the economic outlook of the border in the global context and strengthen collaboration between sectors.

Representatives from Coder Juarez, Canacintra, Coparmex, DECJ, Index, Canaco, CCE and manufacturing companies participated in the meeting, with the purpose of establishing dialogue tables and defining joint actions to improve the competitiveness of the region.

During the meeting, topics such as the impact of the increase in the minimum wage, the reduction of the working day and the application of 25% tariffs on Mexican exports to the United States were discussed. As a result, it was agreed to develop proposals to mitigate these effects and present them to the Federal Government with the support of SIDE.

In addition, mention was made of taking advantage of state programs aimed at promoting investment in strategic sectors and strengthening integration in value chains. Projects that could benefit from the Federal Government’s Relocation Decree, part of Plan Mexico, were also evaluated.

The SIDE stated that it will continue to support investment projects aimed at generating employment and will maintain dialogue with the productive sector to address its needs and develop joint strategies.
