JUAREZ, CHIH – The city of Juarez in the state of Chihuahua ranked third in terms of air traffic flow in Mexico, according to a report presented by Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA).
OMA operates, manages and develops 13 international airports in nine states in the central and northern region of Mexico.
In its December 2022 traffic report, it reports that the number of total passengers (terminal passengers) transported at its 13 airports during the last month of last year grew 20.6% over that recorded in the same period of 2021. Domestic passenger traffic increased 19.1% and international passenger traffic increased 30.4%.
It also indicates that of the total passenger volume for the month, 99.4% came from commercial aviation and 0.6% from general aviation.
In the breakdown by location, Ciudad Juarez recorded a 33.6% increase in total passengers during 2022. According to the report, from January to December 2022, the border reached a total of 2 million 4 thousand 524 users, compared to 1 million 499 thousand 841 in 2021.
Juarez was below cities such as Monterrey, Nuevo Leon (10 million 943 thousand 186 passengers) and Culiacan, Sinaloa (2 million 426 thousand 003 users).
Of the total passengers registered in 2022 in Ciudad Juarez, at least 1,997,985 were domestic users, 34.1% more than in 2021. While 6,539 were international, 47.8% less than the 12,535 reached in 2021.
