Ciudad Juárez assigns CURP to migrants

CIUDAD JUAREZ – The National Institute of Migration (INM) began assigning Unique Codes of Population Registration (CURP) to migrants who are in Ciudad Juárez waiting for the response of the United States government to their request for political asylum.

This document is necessary for migrants to apply for employment in the city’s maquiladora industry. The State Population Council (COESPO) reported that so far there are about 30 migrants who are already working, but many of them have not approached the companies.

The CURP was delivered initially in the emergent facilities enabled by the federal government in the parking lot of the Reforma bridge in Ciudad Juárez.
