Coahuila ranked second nationally in exports during the first quarter of 2025, according to the most recent report from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). The state contributed 11.8% of the national total, just below Chihuahua (16%) and above other exporting states such as Nuevo León, Baja California, and Tamaulipas.
The report also ranks Coahuila as the leader in exports in the transportation equipment sector, accounting for 21% of the national total in this area. In terms of the manufacture of accessories, electrical appliances, and power generation equipment, the state ranks fifth with 7%.
Coahuila’s export performance reflects the importance of the manufacturing industry in its economy, particularly the automotive sector, which accounts for a large part of foreign investment and job creation in the region.
The state’s geographical location and infrastructure have also been key factors in the development of logistics platforms with direct access to the US market.
Experts believe that maintaining a favorable business environment will be crucial to sustaining the pace of export growth.
Among the challenges identified are the continuous improvement of technical training for the workforce, the strengthening of local supply chains, and the promotion of innovation within companies already operating in the state.
