COAHUILA – The state of Coahuila ranked first in Mexico in terms of the largest share of exports in the Transportation Equipment Manufacturing subsector.
According to the Government of Coahuila, this was due to the state’s automotive cluster, the manufacturing of railway equipment and aerospace equipment.
In addition, the state ranked second in terms of the greatest contribution to the value of all products exported in the country, according to the results presented by INEGI of Quarterly Exports by State, for the last quarter of 2023.
Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas has mentioned that the state’s skilled labor force is the main letter of introduction to companies that choose Coahuila as a destination for their investments.
“The companies that settle in Coahuila are doing well, and we are allies of all those who want to invest, start a business or work in our state,” said Jiménez Salinas.
INEGI indicates that for the fourth quarter of 2023, the states with the highest contribution to the total value of exports were: Chihuahua (13.2 percent), Coahuila (12 percent), Nuevo León and Baja California (10.4 percent each), Guanajuato (7.2 percent) and Tamaulipas (6.3 percent).
Together, these entities accounted for 59.5 percent of the total value of exports.
Likewise, in the October-December 2023 quarter, the states with the highest contribution in exports of the Transportation Equipment Manufacturing subsector were: Coahuila (20 percent), Guanajuato (13.2 percent), Nuevo León (8.8 percent), Chihuahua (8.6 percent) and San Luis Potosí (8.1 percent). These states accounted for 58.6 percent of the value of these exports.
The diversification of economic activity in Coahuila and the arrival of more companies that take advantage of its proximity to the United States to install their plants, has resulted in the growth of exports to occupy the positions reported by INEGI in its report.
