COAHUILA – The state’s lodging industry reports a lack of personnel in the cleaning areas, according to Asociación Mexicana de Hoteles y Moteles de Coahuila (AMHMC).
Maria Eugenia Sanchez Gutierrez, a member of the AMHMC, explained that on average there is a deficiency of 30% to 35% in staff overall.
“If we compare (the salary) of the hotel industry with any other industry, it pays less, but what happens is that the hotel industry grants bonuses very quickly,” she commented.
For his part, Hector Davila Rodriguez, president of the association stated that the maids area needs 240 to 280 people throughout the state, so he considered that the government has to work through Secretaría de Turismo y Pueblos Mágicos to allocate resources in order to train workers.
