After that Hyundai decided not to be established in Nuevo Leon as planned, Coahuila is seeking to gain the investment of this Korean automaker, which could represent the creation of 4,000 new direct jobs, informed Jose Antonio Gutierrez Jardon, Head of the Ministry of Economic Development, Competitiveness and Tourism (SEDEC).
According to Hyundai’s executives, Mr. Gutierrez said that the project consisted in investing in Nuevo Leon, or in somewhere in Northern, to benefit from the KIA’s same supply chain, so their options were the States of Nuevo Leon, Coahuila and Durango. He highlighted that Coahuila has an advantage over the other states, due that at least 15 KIA’s Tier 1 suppliers are already established there. On the other hand, the Head of SEDEC informed that they will be traveling to China to concretize a US$100 million investment, which will represent the creation of 1,000 new jobs.
