COAHUILA – At least 15 municipalities in Coahuila will stop receiving around US$20 million, since the Mining Fund will be eliminated from 2020 onwards, Senator Verónica Martínez said.
The senator of Coahuila reported that this occurred despite insistence from the Ministry of Finance to provide this resource, which had been “frozen” and did not flow to the entities. Nevertheless, the funding was contemplated in the country’s expenses.
Martínez informed that throughout the country, US$209 million will no longer be allocated directly for that concept.
“Unfortunately, the majority in the Senate did not agree to maintain the fund. The federal government will keep the resources and will directly allocate it to educational and health infrastructure,” said the senator.
Among the locations that receive this fund are Sabinas, Progreso, Múzquiz, Ocampo, Escobedo, Nava, San Pedro, Hidalgo, Castaños, Acuña, Monclova, Piedras Negras, Ramos Arizpe, Cuatro Ciénegas, and San Juan de Sabinas.
