The Chihuahua State College of Technical and Professional Education (Conalep) and the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Canaco) of Ciudad Juárez signed a collaboration agreement to promote the training of students in the educational subsystem on the border.
The agreement will benefit around 5,000 students enrolled in the 17 degree programs offered by Conalep at its three campuses in Ciudad Juárez, through initiatives such as professional internships, job placement, dual training, training courses, and certification programs.
Omar Bazán Flores, state director general of Conalep, reported that starting in September, a new model will be implemented that will allow students to combine academic and work activities. The model includes four days of internship in the productive sector and one day of face-to-face classes per week.
Bazán added that the agreement also offers an option for workers and business owners affiliated with Canaco who have not completed their upper secondary education, who will be able to join the education system and finish their studies without leaving their commercial activities.
For his part, Iván Antonio Pérez Ruiz, president of the Board of Directors of Canaco Juárez, pointed out that the dual training model helps young people prepare for work while attending high school. He stressed that the participation of the business sector is key to linking education with the needs of the labor market.
