DEACERO announces investment of US$600 million for Coahuila
COAHUILA – DEACERO announced the investment of US$600 million for a new project in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, with which it expects to generate more than one thousand direct jobs.
The Ramos II project consists of the construction of a new steel mill and a rolling mill to produce structural sections of up to 27 inches in Ramos Arizpe, which will meet domestic demand for long products and replace imports.
The company informed that this new investment will strengthen Coahuila as the largest steel producer in Mexico by mentioning that this steel mill, one of the most modern in the world, both in terms of technology and sustainability, will add one million tons per year to the installed production capacity of the complex.
The governor of Coahuila, Manolo Jiménez mentioned that each investment represents new jobs, which translates into the most powerful tool for the people and their families.
“Great investments keep coming to Coahuila. This investment will help us generate more quality jobs for our people. In this land of opportunities, we will continue working in unity to drive sustainable economic development,” Jiménez Salinas emphasized.
Jiménez Salinas highlighted that in 2024 alone, investments for a little more than 70 billion pesos have been announced in Coahuila, creating thousands of jobs, and he commented that investments will continue to arrive.
Raul Gutierrez Muguerza, Chairman of the Board of Grupo DEACERO, said that thanks to the constant collaboration with local authorities, together they have forged an alliance that has allowed them to stand out as one of the most competitive regions in the country.
The production process of the new steel mill will use the best technology available in the world to produce steel by means of the electric furnace, which is an environmentally friendly technology. With this process, CO2 generation is seven times lower than with blast furnace technology. The plant will have digital technology so that the scrap melting process does not affect the national power grid, a technology that will be the first in Latin America.
The Ramos ll Investment Project aims to be one of the most modern steel mills in the world thanks to its state-of-the-art global technology. This plant will be intelligent, automated and sustainable, focused on protecting the physical integrity and safety of its employees, in addition to guaranteeing high quality and productivity standards. It will also use treated water from the municipalities of Ramos Arizpe and Saltillo to avoid overexploitation of aquifers.
