Dignity Health California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) announced the start of construction of a new tower to serve a growing population that includes more than 70,000 residents of the city center and south, 15,000 homeless people and more than 500,000 tourists who visit their tourist areas daily.
The expansion and modernization of the center will cost US$215 million, a project that will include the construction of a tower that will allow the expansion of the emergency room, trauma and maternity services.
In this way the emergency and trauma services forecast a growth of 51%, while the maternity service, which attends the birth of more than 3,400 infants per year, will include technological innovation for the service of newborns and their mothers.
“Los Angeles is where the world comes to innovate, and every day we are harnessing the power of technology to save and improve lives,” said mayor Eric Garcetti in the announcement of the start of construction.
The expansion, which will end in 2020, is forecasted as a center that will serve a diversified population and with various socioeconomic and cultural levels.
