Ireland-based Eaton Corporation, a worldwide power management company, is opening a design and manufacturing operation in El Paso, Texas.

The company is committed to invest US$15.7 million in improvements and equipment at its current facility in this border city, according to documents released by the City of El Paso.

The El Paso facility will manufacture switchboard and motor-control components and will complement Eaton’s existing manufacturing plant across the border in Ciudad Juarez. This new operation will create up to 200 jobs in five years.

“We’re excited to grow our presence in El Paso. We look forward to working with leaders and future employees in the community to deliver high quality electrical distribution equipment to our customers,” said Mike Yelton, Senior Vice President, Electrical Sector at Eaton.

Eaton currently has four sites in the region. Three of them are: Eaton Industries, Eaton Lighting, and Eaton Cooper Bussmann in Ciudad Juarez, and one facility from Eaton Corporation in El Paso.

“We’re thrilled to announce another worldclass company is adding new operations in the region and continuing our community’s momentum forward. This announcement is further proof that the Borderplex region is a premier destination for manufacturing and business expansion,” said Jon Barela, CEO for The Borderplex Alliance.

Eaton is a power management company with 2017 sales of US$20.4 billion, according to its website. The company provides energy-efficient solutions that help customers effectively manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more efficiently, safely and sustainably.
