EL PASO, TX – El Paso Electric Company (EPE) announced that beginning February 2023, Texas customers will see a reduction in their utility bill, whereby an average residential user would see a monthly savings of $12.90 on their winter bill.
EPE filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas a 62.5% decrease in the fuel charge, which will result in a significant reduction for customers in the state. In addition, the company reported that it is reviewing the fuel charge on an interim basis to adjust it accordingly.
“We are pleased to be able to pass this significant cost reduction on to our customers because we are committed to providing affordable and reliable power, this proposed reduction is a step toward that goal,” said David Hawkins, Vice President of System Operations and Resource Strategy.
Hawkins noted that along with this rebate to customers, they will continue to be encouraged to be aware of their energy consumption and take advantage of savings programs.
This fuel charge reduction will provide customers with immediate relief and bring further benefits to customers as the company continues to invest in infrastructure and other initiatives such as smart meters.
