EL PASO, TX – The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of El Paso the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant achievement by a government and its management.
To earn the Certificate of Achievement, cities must meet a number of demanding requirements, including maintaining sound and accurate governmental accounting; publishing complete and timely financial reports; and providing transparent and accessible financial information to the public.
The City of El Paso has been recognized for its compliance with these requirements for several years. In 2022, the City received the Certificate of Achievement for the sixth consecutive time.
“Our team prides itself on its commitment to providing accurate and transparent reports that reflect the City’s financial and accounting status,” said Chief Financial Officer Robert Cortinas. “This recognition further attests that we are committed to our mission of providing the City of El Paso with world-class service and visibility.”
“This prestigious recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to transparency, accuracy and accountability in our financial reporting,” said City Comptroller Margarita Marin. “It represents the collective efforts and dedication of City leaders and the entire finance team, who consistently strive to maintain the highest standards of financial stewardship.”
The Government of Finance Association (GFOA) promotes excellence in public finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research to more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
