Porfirio Gonzalez, General Director of the Center North Airport Group (OMA) Council, announced a US$26.5 million investment, to expand and remodel the terminal building, as well as rebuilding the secondary track of “General Roberto Fierro Villalobos” Airport.
The Airport’s surface will grow by 60%, with 15,253 square meters total. It will have capacity to serve 1.7 million passengers annually. The inspection center will be equipped with state of the art technology to check carry-on bags and the pre-boarding waiting room will have an expansion of over 40%, with six boarding gates. The national and international luggage room will have important growth. The airport expansion is expected to be finalized by 2018’s last trimester, thus increasing connectivity and offering more direct destinations.
