MEXICO – The minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, informed that the governments of Mexico and the United States began the first cross-border vaccination against COVID-19.
Ebrard stressed that this was achieved thanks to the efforts of the Mexican Consulate in San Diego and the County of San Diego to vaccinate Mexican citizens working in U.S. companies in Baja California.
“Today begins a cross-border vaccination between Tijuana and San Diego, we will have 10 thousand vaccines in the border area of the border between Mexico and the United States, in an effort of both local authorities,” he said.
Chancellor Ebrard said that with this agreement there will be 10,000 vaccinations starting in San Isidro and Chaparral.
He explained that the 10,000 vaccines were provided free of charge by the County of San Diego, and will be administered by medical personnel from the University of California, San Diego; it is estimated that between 150 and 200 people will be vaccinated per hour.
