Ford is allocating US$1.3 billion to expand its factory in the State of Chihuahua, with a goal to produce two new types of diesel equipment. Another US$1.2 billion assignment will be used to open a transmissions factory in the State of Guanajuato, in alliance with the German company Getrag.
The official announcement of the investment to expand Ford´s operations at the Chihuahua and Guanajuato plants, valued US$2.5 billion, is expected any time soon. Ford is the fourth largest exporter of vehicles in Mexico, with 108,417 units exported in the first quarter of 2015, shipped mainly to the U.S. Ford’s Chihuahua facilities produce 375,000 units annually and is among the best engine manufacturers in Latin America due to its constant improvements and outstanding work.
