Fort Worth Backs Mach Industries
Fort Worth is offering up to US$4.5 million in tax incentives and grants to attract California-based defense technology company Mach Industries and its planned unmanned aircraft manufacturing operation.
The Fort Worth City Council approved the 10-year incentive package as the company considers establishing a facility at Alliance Gateway 34, a 310,036-square-foot industrial property in Hillwood’s AllianceTexas development.
Mach Industries would be required to invest at least US$74 million in the project and create as many as 1,000 full-time jobs to qualify for the full incentive package. The agreement sets a minimum average annual salary of US$67,470 for the workforce, while the company must maintain at least 600 jobs to receive incentives.
The facility would manufacture unmanned aircraft systems and other aerospace and defense hardware. Mach develops products including surveillance platforms, counter-drone systems, and long-range strike technologies as it moves from development toward larger-scale production.
The project would strengthen Fort Worth’s position as a hub for aerospace and defense manufacturing while adding another advanced-technology operation to AllianceTexas. The city has been competing with other locations in Texas and across the country for Mach’s investment, with a final site decision expected during the third quarter.
Mach’s expansion follows a US$300 million Series C funding round announced in June that valued the company at approximately US$1.8 billion. The new capital is intended to accelerate production of its unmanned defense systems and expand its manufacturing network.
