COAHUILA – Freightcar America, a company dedicated to the production of railroad cars, inaugurated the expansion of its plant in Castaños, Coahuila, where an investment of US$34 million was applied and will generate 500 new jobs.

“Just as we are the main producer of vehicles in Mexico, we are also the number one producer of railroad cars in the Americas, and we continue to strengthen the railroad industry in the Central region. We accompanied Freightcar to the inauguration of its new plant,” said Governor Manolo Jimenez.

In his speech, the governor reiterated his support to the businessmen, and also congratulated and thanked the directors of FreightCar America for contributing to the economy of this region of the state.

According to Jiménez, the most valuable thing that the central region of the state has to develop is the skilled labor force. “In addition to the fact that this region is consolidating as the strongest cluster in railcar manufacturing, we have to take advantage of other industries that are very close to us,” he said.

In that sense, he informed that many investments are coming to Mexico and Coahuila, and that we have to take advantage of this phenomenon and that the Central region is very close to the golden zone of the automotive industry in this country.
